Hauppauge HD PVR 2 issues

Anyone else still having massive MASSIVE problems with this? I tried to capture some things from my roku and it's an absolute mess. I'm getting about 20 errors a film. It's about 1 error every ten minutes. Just AWFUL.

I have captured with both Hauppauge Capture and Capture4Me. Same results.

I've tried changing file type (MP4/TS) with the same results.

It's not the box because I've captured OTA stuff just fine (which I don't need this box for). However, the PS3 and the Roku completely throws it for a loop. It goes nuts.

Sometimes the errors will look like this:


Sometimes the video will just completely stop and the audio will keep playing. Sometimes both will stop.

It's just a mess and I'm REALLY frustrated

And, yes, there's a splitter to remove the HDCP.
HOWEVER, before you go blaming the splitter, I tried running the OTA signal through the splitter first and then sending the signal to the box. There was no issue with the OTA recordings. Now, unless there are glitches with the box removing the HDCP, then that's an entirely different issue. I would think it either works or it doesn't.

I only tried doing it once from the PS3 but it only showed one glitch. I haven't had the time to re-watch the material (it's a movie that's 2 hours long) to make sure it was catching all glitches. If there are any others, they're certainly not as severe. With the PS3, you can download movies to the hard drive and play them off of that whereas the Roku is just streaming. I have no idea if that would make a difference.

The VHD-1X2MN3D reliably removes HDCP.

I would sometimes get gltchy captures using my HD-PVR Colossus, which I attributed to transmission errors in the audio or video stream delivered to my cable box. I could sometimes see or hear them them while simply watching a channel with the cable box connected directly to the TV.

I never have problems watching it normally through the Roku. Ever. Like I said, it's pretty rock solid and my internet connection is so reliable and my speed is so high that it shouldn't be much of a problem.

And, again, power-cycling shouldn't be an issue because, like I said, it works fine with the OTA signal. No errors whatsoever.
I did one test with the PS3 and it was better...but still had glitches.
The Roku was the worst. Constant problems. So it would seem that the source is a part of the issue but why, if they play back perfectly fine, is the splitter/Hauppauge combo introducing issues?

I'm really perplexed.

OK I've now captured the exact SAME movie 3 times and THIS is really odd: all of the errors that are happening are happening within a minute of each other. I'm quoting the error files below. My THEORY is that the errors are coming from those stupid TEMP.ts files that the hauppauge makes, for some reason. My old 1212 didn't make those and I have no issues with it. Could that be the case? Check it out!

No. There's no way to correct them. The video footage is missing. It clearly is some sort of Hauppauge error. It wouldn't keep happening at the same intervals no matter what I'm recording.

I was looking for a review of mpeg2 repair. Does it do anything besides scan the files & report errors? How does it compare to TsDoctor? I tried downloading it from codecs .com but chrome reported it as malicious.
