It may sound silly but do not use the supplied connectors. My computer would never recognize the easycap until I plugged directly into the computer. Once your computer recognizes go to capture then options then choose composit or s-video let me know and I may be able to help.

I have been struggling with this no input signal problem as well when trying to record from my VCR, while recording from my camcorder went fine. Finally found out the problem was due to the scart connector I used.
SCART connectors come in two types: IN and OUT, depending on whether the signal is going Into or Out of a piece of equipment.
Most scart connectors are input only, while for this purpose the signal needs to go OUT of the VCR.
So you need to get hold of a scart having an input/output switch.
    See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Multiconnector-scart-chtii.jpg

After having installed this OUT connector it worked like a charm.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards, Klaas.

    Hi,

Are you able to capture audio too or only video? I have DC60 and I can't capture audio. Instead it get the audio captured by my PC's microphone.

The driver it's installed under imaging devices and not under the sound devices.

    Any suggestions, please?

    Thanks,
    DIONESCU

  5. Quick question. I am using an easycap grabber with the videoglide software and when i open it it asks for a device serial number. Where would i find this

i had the no sound issue too and the drivers never installed properly.
i installed the k-lite codec and amazingly it sorted things out.
sound input needs to be set to usb in ulead not usbheadphone or mic.
sound quality in windows movie maker and power producer are
crappy but the ulead sounds a lot better. go figure.
    quite a bargain for $9!

Okay, I know it is an old thread but if it was not for this thread I would have thrown the device in the bin!!!! You've asked to come back if we got it fixed... Thanx especially to stevesgrabber for all the effort.

    I'm running Vista Business SP2 32bit on an Acer TravelMate6292, Intel Core 2 T6400 2.00GHz, 3GB RAM.

I struggled for hours. My video worked immediately (black & white and distortion was quickly sorted with the PAL-B setting). BUT THE SOUND DIDN'T WORK!!!

What I did was mostly what stevesgrabber said.Changed to Administrator. I uninstalled all drivers (not even have to uninstall Ulead VideoStudio 10 SE). Disable FireWall, anti-virus software and the User account control. Downloaded AllEasyCAPDriversIFound.rar. In this file I installed \dc60\drivers\setup.exe (there is a 32 and 64bit version but mine picked up the correct one automatically).

    THE SOUND WORKED!!!
I enabled the security again and switched to my own user. Still worked.

There is allot of static on the sound then I changed to another cable - RCA sound to line-in jack. Not using the USB Audio Device setting in the Sound/Recording configuration for now. I use the Line-In setting. The sound is good now.

    In device manager
    Imaging Devices/Syntek STK1160
Sound, video, game controller/Realtek High Definition Audio (which I use with the line-in)
Sound, video, game controller/USB Audio Interface (which work but with static - could be the remote blaster I’m using)

For now I use a remote blaster to get the DSTV (Satellite TV) signal to the study. The RCA connections go from the blaster to the EasyCap-DC60. I want to use the EasyCap-DC60 to convert old video to dvd, so tomorrow I’ll start with quality and conversion sizes from the video player. The main thing is, the EasyCap-DC60 is working now. Now it is only to sort out the Ulead VideoStudio 10 SE or other software to get the required quality.

Hope this helps somebody. Thanx again to all contributed!!!

I just bought the Easycap 2.0 and Ulead works and installed fine but the drivers for the Easycap keeps saying it can't retrieve them and they won't install. Has anyone else had this problem?

    Here's a video to show what I did > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-pb8d99z6U

  10. Quick question, can this device be used to stream live video/sound or is it just for recording?

Sorry for the necro post, but I'm going to go ahead and review this piece of equipment for a bit.

    It's not good enough.

To begin, it has to be said that there are several versions of the EasyCap (as can be attested by the fact that they're detected under many different names when plugged in), many of which do or do not work to a varying degree. I'll indicate which one I have with its name. Mine is recognized as the SMI Grabber Device, or SM-USB 007. It came with a little USB extension cord and some version of that ULead recorder thing on a yellow disc. Oh, and I'm testing on Windows 7.

    What works:
PlayStation 2 games work and display mostly fine... as long as you're using that crappy ULead thing. I tend to see some distortion lines across the picture.
Any other somewhat modern console probably will work, too. However, the device has the tendency to not work at all sometimes, in which case it is best to just plug out the device, close all software using it, and try again.

    What does not work:
    - My version of the EasyCap will NOT work properly with almost all other video capture software. Virtual VCR sort of works but doesn't save its settings, so it's bothersome to set up, and it also tends to not detect the sound. VirtualDUB has no sound and a really bad frame rate.
    - Speaking of sound, it tends to not record. It's random; sometimes I get nothing, sometimes I get really badly distorted sound, and sometimes I get actual PROPER sound.
    - Older consoles will not work with this version. That is, a lot of PS1 games and the SNES won't work at all. I tried the SNES with S-Video and never got a picture, so either S-Video doesn't work (yes, I set it up in the software properly) or it just won't recognize the SNES resolution (which is weird, because it should be compatible).

Final note: some things will randomly work or not work, some things will never work. Keep trying at least 5 times to make sure.

I give this thing a 3/10. Nice idea, too poorly executed. Won't work (properly) in a lot of different cases, and with nothing but its included software. Luckily I only got mine for 14 euros. Skip it, get something better.

Probably; it's recognized as a regular old video capture card.

EDIT: sheesh, this forum doesn't support the euro sign? Set your pages to use UTF-8 already guys. :P

  12. i have read and reread the threads here concerning peoples problems with easy crap, but i have not seen anything really helping my problem. first i have XP. at firs, the picture didnt work when i hooked up my vcr to the device and computer, then i uninstalled, followed intructions, and got the picture perfect. with the U Lead 1160 i was able to see a picture also using the Video editor it came with video Studio SE dvd, fine, i was even able to watch the video played in real time on my computer, that was exciting, but when i found the button that said preview audio with USB device, it gave me nothing but static, now i could hear the video under all that, but it was annoying and grating. i thought it was the program, maybe, but when i tried to vid cap with Windows MM, it too had the static. maybe it's the easy cap U Lead 1160 usb thingy? no. when i unplugged the audio cables (White and Red) it still gave the noise. so reading here it must be a configuration problem. but i cant figure what. i went to device manager and saw the device listed, so that's not it, i went to sound control panel and saw that sound recording was ALREADY set to USB audio interface (that's the only choice besides Modem Line #1 and my nVidia sound card) i see in my hardware list there is Legacy Audio drivers, Media control devicses, Legacy Video Capture devices, Video codecs, STK 1160 Grabber, USB Audio device, Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio device, NVIDIA nForce Audio codec, all with a little speaker icon in front of the names. the sound playback is using the NVIDIA n Force Audio, and the sound recording is using the USB Audio interface. i hate this and i hope someone has an answer

This is the manufacturer's page for the newest version of the genuine EzCAP DC60+ http://www.ezcap.tv/ Judging by its name and appearance, the one pictured in the first link could be a knock-off. I don't have either one, but the knock-offs are of variable quality from everything I've read about them, and you buy them at your own risk.

I have problems getting sound and picture in sync with the EasyCap/VideoGlide system. I can edit this using SimpleMovieX (have tried the demo version). But then I´ll have to buy that program. Plus it´ll take a lot of extra time. Any solutions, anyone, please?
I marked the USB Audio Device in Sound settings, but it didn´t help.

    Hi CVILLE
I am pretty sure you have bought a DC60
DC60 had issues and original manufacturer (forwardvideo) stopped making them about 4 years ago
But some sellers still sell them at a very cheap price like $5-10. You seems like you have bought this off ebay. After this DC60+ came with lot of improvements. That works with the MAC versions 10.2-10.4. The latest and greatest model of this series is EzCAP116. EzCAP 116 uses the same Empia chipset as in DC60+. It supports both MAC OS X 10.2-10.6.x and all the windows versions from XP to 7. Windows version comes with Arcsoft video capture and editing software and Blaze Video Converter. Arcsoft software worth over $100 - Very easy to use and tutorials available on youtube.

FrowardVideo keep changing the model number to compete with fake manufacturers. Forwardvideo is fighting back with fake manufacturers by educating and participating at trade fairs all over the world. On their website they say “Please do learn "EzCAP" NOT "EasyCAP", and to guarantee the shop where you buy sold products produced from our company…..” http://www.szforwardvideo.com/news/News_15.html

ezcap1168 is still sold at very high price but you can get EzCap116 at a reasonable price on eBay with genuine software licences.

You can get the drivers for discontinued products here
    http://www.szforwardvideo.com/news/News_15.html

If someone is having problem with driver installations please try on a different computer and try the drivers on the above website

My machine is an 8 year old IBM Thinkpad with 1GB memory so of course also a slow processor. Running XP Pro SP3, got the Easycap driver in OK, I have one capture problem & a configuration problem.

    1. Capture to MPEG, default settings, captures but plays back at roughly twice normal speed; am I only getting half the frames or something?

    2. When I try to change the settings to a smaller size, 356 x 288 (I think) or try to change other 'Options' the program (Ulead 8 that came with it) just hangs.

    Baffled, any advice gratefully received.

    TIA,

  21. hi guys
i have also bought the easycap but its not the easycap i am having problems with its the software download.
when i try to download the drivers they do not install properly and i dont know what the problem is i am using a laptop with windows 7 and i thought that might be the problem can someone please tell me what the problem might be or how to resolve or both!!
    thanks

  22. Howieb123 More info needed. FULL hardware and software specs. WHat exactly is the error message?. If you only paid a few bux just sling it in the Bin and move on.

If you are capturing from Video/Dvd sources remember some deices can output in RGB/CVBS on composite, this may cause black and white pictures if set incorrectly.

  23. has anyone brough an USB 2.0 Gabber with VHS to DVD 2.0 se progarm I cannot get any sound,
I have HP pavilion slimline s7700n with Windows Vista 32 bit and AMD 64 Athlon x2 duel processor /1GB Ram
the video is very good, I need help.

  24. I just recently purchased 4 of the EasyCap usb video capture devices. They seemed to install fine. I am not using audio so I haven't noticed a problem there.

Unfortuantely I am trying to record 2 video stream simultaneously. It seems that that is not possible. I can view each stream one at a time but if I try and record a second stream simultaneously, the second screen is just black.

Has anyone been able to record 2 streams at one on the same computer, If so what drivers are you using?

I need some help here, I purchased the Easy Cap because I need to have the date and time stamp from my Sony DCR TRV460 on the video that is imported. I installed the soft ware that came with Easy Cap, the video doesn's show up at all in the program and sound comes from both the cam corder and my mic. I'm running Windows 7 64bit, 8gb Ram, two 320 HD's. The video program does recoginize the Easy Cap devie. Not sure what else to say here but my e mail address is availabe too. I'm a Private Investigator so the date and time stamps are very important to have on the video.

Those $10 EasyCaps don't come with Windows 7 64-bit drivers or decent software for Windows 7 64-bit and there is most often no support available from the maker or the seller to help you find workable alternatives.

The biggest demographic amongst those asking for help with their EasyCap-related problems are teenagers looking to record video games. They have no money but have lots of free time to spend experimenting with different drivers found online and tinkering with various software in the hopes that something will work.

However, your time is money, and you probably don't need any additional headaches. Take my advice and create a thread asking for a recommendation for a capture device that can do what you want and that provides working drivers. Also ask for suggestions for capture software suitable for your OS and the device.

i dont think you have to be a teenager to want a cheap or free capture.. alot of those 'teenagers' are capable of very low level programming, in the binary range.. and use screen captures to provide others with free tutorials on how to do things

honestly, the internet was created for exactly that, and i think its ridiculous that good quality capture programs seem to be geared towards an elite group of quasi-professionals wishing to make money from their time and effort, not because they are too old for childish behavior, but they arent young enough at heart to care about anyone but themselves, most likely..

and so they are geared to a rising class of people who think they should get paid for telling everone how to do every little menial task on the planet via videocasts, so the software is expensive in order to separate the "pros" from the people who dont have large digital objects in their rectum. and that so there can even be a class of 'pros who knows', and you who apparently dont have enough money to teach anyone anything useful

anyway, Mac comes with something useful built in, and windows has the media encoder/ expression encoder, it works for the grunts and lowlifes, but if you want to make something more sexy, you will need something more than easycap

easycap is for the people who are as "poor as church mice, but as proud as peacocks"

and of course, all those actually valuable people have something that costs more than your computer, but which is but a drop in the well of the filling of their soul

Sorry, but I just feel the need to reply to this rambling ridiculous post...

i dont think you have to be a teenager to want a cheap or free capture..
Either a teen, student or all-around cheapskate. That's about accurate.

alot of those 'teenagers' are capable of
Capable? Debatable. Doing it? Not really.

honestly, the internet was created for exactly that
No. It was a military project.

and i think its ridiculous that good quality capture programs seem to be geared towards an elite group of quasi-professionals
Or people who know how to read. Capturing itself isn't hard. The hard part is all the pre-capture hardware, and post-capture workflow to make the video into something useful AND of quality.

wishing to make money from their time and effort,
Yeah, that evil grocery store and mortgage company insist I pay with money.

not because they are too old for childish behavior, but they arent young enough at heart to care about anyone but themselves, most likely..
    Huh?

and so they are geared to a rising class of people who think they should get paid for telling everone how to do every little menial task on the planet via videocasts, so the software is expensive in order to separate the "pros" from the people who dont have large digital objects in their rectum. and that so there can even be

a class of 'pros who knows', and you who apparently dont have enough money to teach anyone anything useful
Most of us "pros who know" don't have time. We're busy getting paid for our work.
Work = payment, what a concept.

anyway, Mac comes with something useful built in, and windows has the media encoder
I don't think any AV software that comes with an OS could be considered useful -- sometimes not even functional.

easycap is for the people who are as "poor as church mice, but as proud as peacocks"
Or for people who were trying to be cheap + don't know any better, and end up with a piece of worthless crap for their bad decisions.

and of course, all those actually valuable people have something that costs more than your computer, but which is but a drop in the well of the filling of their soul
