  1. i was tring to use dvdfab to back up my dvd collection, but it keepd crashing so im looking for alternative rippers. i would like to do perfect 1;1 ratios ripping, bit to bit. size isnt an issue, would like better quality so if the movies are 4 or 5 gb each thats fine. a program like dvdshrink will not work, as far as i know that compresses the video and u can disable it. i am storing them and watching them from my pc so format rly isnt a big issues either.

    and ideas?

DVD Shrink does allow you to rip a disc without shrinking.

Under Edit>> Preferences set Target Size DVD to DVD-9

    OR

After it analysis disc and under Full-Disc mode click underneath DVD Structure the whole disc and set compression setting to No compression. It will save all of the disc without compressing anything.

I wonder why DVDFab is not working. It's pretty much the only updated program that lets you rip a disc to PC, other than AnyDVD.

Shrink is way old and although it is still one of my, and a lot of other peoples, most useful tools, it is not suitable for actually ripping newer dvd's because it can not handle most newer copy protections.

And i am thinking you have some other problem that is making DVDFab crash as i always use the pay version and update it every time there is an update and i don't recall it ever crashing.

If you want to maintain the whole disc, including menus underneath DVD Structure click the "DVD_Video" and over next to compression, set to no compression.

It is free but only the option to rip the whole disc, not the main movie.
