What I did is I added 1GB More to my 1GB Ram to make it 2GBs and I starting having this problem my BIOS reads that I have 2Gbs of Ram now but why would this just start happening?
Can someone explain this to me please....I had to edit a bunch a random settings inside VNC, Windows Media Player and Now having issue with Realplayer...Videos...The same problem on ALL of them was the fact that I heard Audio but no video...I get a Black Screen with sound but no video...I had to go into Options>Performance>Advanced and I had to change a bunch of options to get it to work...but WMP 11 works now but I would like it so I could get ALL my video players to work with no problems like they used to.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled tons of codecs and Windows Media is working now, but VNC and RealPlayer are still giving me issues....I downloaded the K-Lite Codec Pack Basic and DIVX Codec again...but still no luck
Can someone please help me...Is there a way to fix ALL The Video Players together so I don't have to change ALL Settings over again...I don't understand why ALL Videos were fine when I had 1GB but as soon as I added another I had a ton of problems...
I am using Windows Media Player 11, Latest Realplayer and VNC...Nothing works on my Windows Media Player Classic for some reason it downloads the codecs and then it says on the bottom unknown error occured....
Please help me fix this.

Sounds like the RAM is bumping into the BIOS (in particular the video address) of your system. It's like having 2 TV stations broadcasting on the same channel. Fixing involves going into your BIOS settings and seeing if you can bypass the area the BIOS occupies.
-
Any Step By Step guides on how to do so because I am terrible when it comes to BIOS...
I am just looking for ways of possibly fixing it...
This is my BIOS BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 08/08/2006
2.60 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
2048 Megabytes Installed Memory
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT [Display adapter]
Samsung SyncMaster [Monitor] (19.1"vis, s/n HTBP712913, July 2007) (2x)
Those are some system specs...
This the the Memory I just added...
1GB PC5300 DDR2 DT

Have you tired pulling the new memory and see if everything reverts to normal?
If so, you may have the added memory in the wrong slots or the memory isn't compatible or it's got a problem.
What's your motherboard name and model? That would help considerably.
Some motherboards need specific brands of memory and they almost always need it added in the proper slots.
Modern BIOS's don't really care much about RAM. The default settings should work fine unless you have made some custom settings for voltage, timing, etc. I doubt a BIOS upgrade will help any.
Of course, I am assuming the computer you are asking about is the same as listed in your computer details. That sounds like a fairly new MB.
Another question, do you have motherboard video or a separate video card?
Anyway, the way you descibe it, it sounds like a RAM problem. Changing around your players and adding unnecessary codecs will just mess it all up worse. -
I am using a Seperate Video Card with Seperate Motherboard not all in one
-
I just took the Memory 1GB I just added and still having same problem Black Screen No Video.
My motherboard is a NForce4M-A...So What should I do??
I noticed when I added the new Memory Nvidia wanted me to upgrade my drivers...or something like that...So what is the way of getting the working Old Nvidia Drivers again without screwing it up...Here is a thing I found but not referring to my Motherboard...

Let me get this straight.
You added RAM, which should have no effect whatsoever on video playback, but you are concerned about this. Then you UPDATED VIDEO CARD DRIVERS, (Video card, Video playback issue, notice a pattern?) and also at some point downloaded new codecs, including K-Lite which is widely known to cause many issues. Piece of CRAP.
Now you have a video problem, which remains after the RAM is removed.
I got in my car, went and got gas, had a beer, hit myself on the head with a hammer, went home, went to sleep, then woke up with a headache. Why does buying gas give me a headache?
Do ONE THING AT A TIME. By making multiple changes, you have eliminated any possibility whatsoever of determing what caused your original problem, and also caused more problems.
I would start by completely uninstalling the video card, including physical removal and booting without the card. Then re-install, using the working drivers. Removing all the bogus codecs might be next. Last would be to re-create the original RAM upgrade and focus on why at that precise point in time you were prompted to update video drivers. Something else happened which you are either leaving out or are unaware of. Bios change, card bumped, was it necessary to R & R the video card to get at the RAM slots? SOMETHING caused that upgrade prompt, and it should not have happened. Possible this is just random timing and there is no connection to the RAM upgrade, but it sure as hell would be the first thing I would look at to solve the Video problem, the RAM itself would be almost last on my list. If the RAM were truly defective, it is extremely unlikely (though not impossible) that the evidence of this defect would be settings changes in video playback programs as oppossed to lockups and reboots, which you have not mentioned.
Now an UPDATE TO VIDEO DRIVERS would be quite likely, and in fact virtually GUARANTEED, to affect video playback in some way. -
What Codec Pack do you recommend and Where can I get the most recent Video Drivers for my GeForce 7300GT Video Card??
I remember what I installed when the computer rebooted after I put in my New RAM was a ForceWare but I can't remember which... -
Also I noticed that I can play Windows Media Player 11 Movies now with messing with Performance and Also I can Play DVDs in VNC so what about Real Player? What could I do to play those vidz
-
DO NOT USE A CODEC PACK. Uninstall one if you made that mistake.

I use a couple of GeoForce 7300 GS video cards in my Vista computers. They can use some system RAM for video display, at least with the Vista OS. But adding RAM wouldn't cause any problems, unless it's the wrong RAM or in the wrong slots. You can use CPU-Z to check your RAM specs: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
Go to Nvidia and DL the latest driver. Uninstall your old driver first, then reboot and add the new one. They have one that came out in the last couple of weeks for the 7300. I'm using 169.25 Forceware for Vista. XP uses 169.21. Make sure you get the correct one for your OS. The Vista drivers are different. But it shouldn't let you install the wrong one. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
About the only codec pack I would use is ffdshow. Use VLC if you have odd video formats. Or Quicktime Alternative and Real Alternative if you need to play those formats. Good luck on getting K-lite completely out of there. -
-
I took your advice and got CPU-Z and I am posting pix to show everyone what I got that might help a little more...
So Any Ideas?
-
I tried Uninstalling the Old Nvidia and putting in the New one and I then Uninstalled K-Lite Codec and installed Real Alternative...and Still no Realplayer vids are working also I noticed a lot of my Videos now in Windows Media Player 11 are Look like someone turned the Brightness up a ton so it is working but white....Also My Little icon of my Nvidia Settings its a lot less quality and also I notice in My Control Panel for Nvidia I am missing a couple of options like Color Enhancement and stuff...and it is checked as advanced...
What is up? -
looks like you're using 2 different brands of RAM, the last cpu-z pic shows a unknown brand of RAM. Most motherboards recommend using the same brands of RAM. as for your NVIDIA drivers, dunno why you would wanna remove them. i guess it wouldn't hurt as you can always reinstall them. just download the latest ones from the NVIDIA site.

It seems like the new drivers screwed stuff up a little more shoot..I just want this to work...
-
Well I have 2GBs of the the Same K-Byte RAM I bought with my Best Buy Gift Certificates...

I tried installing the new drivers and it causes more issues what the hell...I have the Mother board disk but that wouldn't have the Drivers on it would it?
and another thing could the dam RAM Cause all these problems??
Before when I had 1GB of RAM no Issues with video or anything EVERYTHING Worked and then I put in the second Memory 1GB from K-Byte and Forceware for the GeForce Auto Installs I guess to update and then nothing works...So I edit the settings in Windows Media Player 11 and bam I am able to watch some videos and then VNC won't play any videos Black Screen with Sound so I installed K-Lites Codec Pack and then I uninstalled it and then I was for some reason able to Watch videos inVNC and Windows Media Player 11 and then Real Player won't play any so I did all what it says here...
So what should I Do..If I uninstall the New Drivers will it go back to the old drivers when I reset or what?
What should I do? Should I buy the Kingston 1GB Brand or what is better RAM I could buy for 2Gbs?? -
you're using 2 different types of RAM, take a look again at cpu-z, 1 pic shows KINGSTON PC4300 RAM and other one shows the KBYTE (i'm assuming that's the one you bought from BEST BUYT) 1GB of PC5300 RAM. my suggestion is to buy another 1gb stick of KINGSTON PC4300 RAM. your issue could be the PC5300KBYTE RAM you got from BEST BUY. BEST BUY does sell KINGSTON RAM. i'd try a new 1gb of PC4300 KINGSTON RAM before you mess anymore with the video card drivers. just my 2 cents!

Never install memory without running a quality memory diagnostic.
Here is one which can boot from CD and will test ALL of memory
http://www.memtest.org/
Budz may be right but if he is it should fail these diagnostics. -
Good Idea...I still have the receipts and Boxes for BOTH memories so I could possibly bring them back but I am hoping the Reward Point Gift Certificates I got wouldn't deny me from exchanging...
Latest thing I did today was System Restore Back to the 18th of January before I started messing with all sorts of stuff...I deleted the K-Lite Codec Pack...I installed FFDShow and Real Alternatives...And Windows Media Classic doesn't work for some of the stuff...So My memory probably is the problem...I will let you all know
Why would some videos work though and not others?? In order to get my stuff back I needed to mess with a few settings ONLY in Windows Media Player 11... -
So I burned the MemTest ISO to a CD at 1.7mb and it tells me this...
There is no visible file here.
Memtest86+ is located on the bootsector of this CD.
Just boot from this CD and Memtest86+ will launch. -
Well I have 2GBs of the K-Byte Memory I bought from the Best Buy I have two sticks each 1GB...

In your CPU-Z pic it doesn't show the manufacturer of your motherboard. It would be helpful to know then you would know what is the correct type of RAM to use. At the moment you are using 2 sticks of ram which are not the same type...you're using 1gb that is PC5300 & 1gb is PC4300. That could be why you're having so many problems with video playback on your pc.

O Ok...
Sorry...Here is my stats... I should be more clear your right..
Motherboard: NForce4-M
Video Card: GeForce 7300GT
Original Memory: 1GB KINGSTON PC4300
Added Memory: 1GB K-BYTE PC5300 (I Bought 2GBS=2 Sticks with my Best Buy Stuff So I have 2 Sticks of 1GB)
Also I tried that I burned the iso i got from the site...that is 1.7MB I am using WinXP do I have to hold a button to Boot from CD? -

Can you SEE that you have 2 totally different types of RAM?
You need to use same type of RAM, so let's just say take back the 1gb PC5300 RAM & exchange it for 1GB of PC4300 RAM. Then you'll have 2 GB's of the same type of RAM. You understand?
You have to use the same type of RAM in order for your computer to work correctly and functionally. NForce4-M is only a type of motherboard, it's not the manufacturer. Motherboard manufacturers are like ASUS, GIGABYTE, MSI, FOXCONN or BIOSTAR. -
How long does the Memtest take it has been 1hr 45minutes and it has gone through 2 100% full sets now it comes up as Pass on the top and the percentages are adding up...
Also my motherboard is made by...
ECS Elitegroup
I hope that helps...also do know of any sites I could pick up a Kingston 1GB PC4300 RAM
I looked on tigerdirect and bestbuy but no luck finding it...I looked on newegg as well but no luck...
Darn..it has been awhile since I put the memory in probably about 2 years or less....
Also the type of Motherboard I have...
NForce4M-A (That is the Actual Model)
Oh and I forgot to post that...I just did the Switch back on X-Mas from CRT Monitor to LCD...
The Model I got...
Samsung SyncMaster 941BW, but the movies working fine before I did the 1GB upgrade so I am guessing it's that and not the monitor.
