Just took an avi movie and ripped the sound using vdub. Try to convert it using tmpge halfway though the screen goes black but still have audio.
I know the avi is ok because i can watch it all the way through with media player.
Also i keep getting write errors when i try to encode to mpeg2.
Totally stuck and donk know what to do!
    HELP

Not a guarantee of perfection by any means. Scan the video for errors with virtualdub.

  3. I was having the exact same problem with a downloaded AVI file.

I started by trying to convert to VCD-MPEG-1 with TMPGEnc using the downloaded file for both audio and video. It converted fine except the audio was way out of sync by the end.

So I ripped audio to wav using Virtual Dub, loaded TMPGEnc with video from the original file and using the wav file for audio. About 20% of the way in the video went blank, but the audio continued to encode.

The solution for me was to follow the instructions regarding the DirectShow File Reader I found here:

    https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc.htm#problems

Look at the 8th problem/solution and give it a try.

    Best,

    Tim
