    Hi,

I am new to playing with video, so am using FAVC, rather than getting into scripts etc.

    I have 2 PCs both XP SP2.

One happily converts AVI to DVDs using FAVC, but the other gives errors intimating that Avisynth is not up to minimum rev. or a codec is missing, or if I get past there, Imgburn complains that the files produced are not a valid format.

I have re-istalled FAVC, Avisynth, Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 but to no avail.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

You are missing an appropriate codec or these is something else odd about the source. Make sure you have the same codecs and versions on both systems.

Sometimes FAVC produces the VOBs, but doesn't produce all the IFO and BUP files required for burning. These can be created with IFOEdit.

Setting the Maximum bitrate to 7000, if using HCenc, usually fixes that problem.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

After I installed ffdshow the problem cleared, so a codec issue.

I'll use the 7000 max bit rate tip too.

Personally, I'd rather use a higher bitrate and create the IFOs afterwards if necessary. I usually have the maximum set at 8700 kbps, and haven't spiked above legal. I assume this is a muxman related issue ?

Hard to say. Here's part of the thread on the issue.
