  1. Does anyone know who has these in stock? I've checked the usual places and it seems everyone is out. This has happened before; I'm just surprised that these shortages keep happening. If you can suggest an alternative, I'm listening. The Ritek dual sided DVD-R's have worked out quite well though I'd like to see the price below $3 again!

    Thanks.

  2. I bought them off of ebay. Haven't gotten around to using them yet.

Have you had good results with them?

  3. I'm gonna ask a really stupid question about 9.4GB dual sided DVD-Rs...I assume that if I have a flipper movie (such as Gods and Generals), that I can simply backup Side A of G&G, then burn to side A on my blank 9.4; then flip over and backup Side B of G&G to my HD, then burn side B on the other side of blank 9.4??

    Is it this easy?

I'm assuming this eliminates the need to shrink and combine and rename VOBs, etc, etc.

But even if you don't have a dual sided DVD-R, you don't have to shrink, combine, etc...

You just burn it to two single-sided DVD-Rs... and then you have a nice blank surface on which to write what the disc is (or put a label).

  6. Jeff--
Thanks for the input...I honestly wasn't even thinking about that at the time, but you're right, that does eliminate my problem.

I was actually just trying to figure out if what I originally said will work. Based on your comments, I guess my original statement was right.

Thanks guys for all of your help.

Sorry for not replying sooner; was out of town. The Ritek 9.4 GB discs have worked out quite well for me. The compatability is excellent; using them on Sony, Aiwa, and PS2 players.

I have been buying them 25 at a time and average about 1 bad disc per pack. You can usually tell a bad one by just looking at it.

Any other questions, let me know.

    downer,

How did you find them on ebay? There's a ton of 4.7 GB but I couldn't find any 9.4 GB. What search did you use? I don't think "9.4" is valid and I tried "dual". ("ritek dvd-r" was the rest of the search)

    thanks,
