I'm back after 15 years trying to remember how to split mp3 files using direct cut. I seem to remember splitting an mp3 into two parts and creating a Cue file, but I cannot find the correct sequence how to do so in the manual. I've created the split point but so far haven't figured out how to create two separate files at that point. What command(s) do I need to use after hitting cutting at the desired split off point? When I use the save split command, it just saved the first half up to the split off point.

  5. I joined several .mp3s with Audacity because I did not have a .mp3 like that.
I watched the video & tried the instructions.
They did not work for the .mp3 I created.
It remained one .mp3 close to a duplicate of the original.

  6. You can just click "Set Begin" where you want the section to start, find the end of that section and click "Set End", then use the "File/Save Selection" menu to save that selection as a new MP3.

Otherwise you can click "Set Begin", then the Cut/Cue button, find the end of the section you want to keep and click "Set End". If you want the next section to start at that point, just move to where you want the next section to end, then click "Set End" followed by Cut/Cue once more. Rinse and repeat...... The final section needs to be marked at the end with "Set End" followed by Cut/Cue. Once you have your sections marked, "File/Save Split" should save them as individual MP3s

If you click "Set Begin" and "Set End" without clicking Cut/Cue in between, that selection will be highlighted and the Cut/Cue button will delete it, or something like that. If you do anything you regret and want to change it, any action can be undone under the Edit menu.

If you have a video containing multiple tracks with silence in between and you want to split it into individual tracks or create cue points, the "Special/Pause Detection" menu is probably what you want (rather than auto cue). It should create a cue point between each track.

There's an option under Settings/Configuration/Layout for showing text on the buttons if it's easier. It's not the default setting.
