First may I thank notaghost for his superb work. Yes, I am new here (as a member). I have been monitoring here for quite a while though, and also some very useful downloads from Github. A member here moaned about Github. May I say that there are some superb coders on there as well. So please don't knock them as being thieves of this or other sites.

I have a very limited knowledge of python, but I've been able to get round interpreting most of what's been posted. The old widevine-decryptor, -guesser, -guesser-modified were a fantastic godsend for me. The more recent having to use WKS-KEYS and widevine_keys-main were more awkward and I only managed to get them working on a couple of streaming sites (but a piece of piss once I'd sussed it out). I still never got All4 working, which I dearly want.

And that's the thing. I'm not after major players like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. If I want anything from them, I just download from sites supplying scene material. I just want selected shows from the UK free-to-air UK channels especially All4, UKTV player, RTE play, My5. If they're free-to-air shows, I find it an absolute insult we cannot get this stuff for our own personal use.

So, to say, let's ban all this content on this forum to everybody, etc. is upsetting, especially when many of those taking part are just as in the dark as me (actually, even more so reading some of the comments, at least I can make educated guesses).

Rest assured, sites like this (and Github) are not seen as a threat to Google (who owns widevine). We're smallfry and probably add up to less than 1% of everything that's downloaded from encryption sites. It's the big scene guys who want to grab and share from the big boys like Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, Disney that they're after.

I really do hope that experts like notaghost don't, well, give up the ghost with us. Your input is amazing.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a nice Christmas pressie on this one.

This forum (and similar) isn't going to stop the real thieves who actually do make a profit out of it. Here, we're just a bunch of amateurs mainly, we just want to download shows for ourselves. I don't believe this forum has resulted in profit making organisations (just read the posts for Christ sake). That's more the domain of scene groups who probably laugh at us anyway. And whatever such organisations there are should be tackled head on with whatever direct appropriate policing of them is required. Next, you'll be wanting to kill off code itself, because that ultimately results in such organisations as well. And, using the same arguments, you'll not be too chuffed we have sections like Blu-ray Ripping, DVD Ripping, IPTV discussions. You were probably disgusted when cassette recorders, DVD recorders took off and really peaved off with torrent sites as well.

I've been watching this whole thing from the sidelines and I'm getting sick of seeing how public it is. Most people use the notaghost tool to make a profit. Probably many will curse me, but I have reported anonymously about this forum and the notaghost tool to google and widevine and other instances, hopefully this will end soon.

As a simple user our means remain limited for this kind of activities, the scene team and others of the same kind use the loophole on a large scale and by being well equipped, they do much more harm than ourselves. WKS-KEYS was using a shared/leaked CDM. That has been revoked so the script will no longer work unless you get you own CDM files from your own device (WVdumper)
(and no one is likely to share their personal CDM files)

Also a trick that I learned while running it is, have the video playing app running in the menu/catalog BEFORE running the dump scripts.

I noticed that running the player app after just had the script sit there with no response after Hooks.

Doing it in the correct order had it going “Here you go buddy!”.
