    Hello folks.

I recently managed to transcode from DIVX to an MPEG-2 Transport Stream carrying MPEG-4/H.264 video with AAC (FAAC) audio in two steps, using avidemux for transcoding and VLC for encapsulation (avidemux just won't pack h.264 in an MPEG2 TS ).

The problem now is that I need it with constant bit rate, with dummy packets making up for the variable bit rate in the h.264 encoding. My TS has variable bit rate, which is useless for my application. Thus, this issue is not the same as that other thread asking for tips on AVI to TS.

Any tips on how to obtain constant bit rate on either VLC or avidemux? I also noticed that only the windows version of VLC allows me to copy the original video and audio while only changing the encapsulation.

The application is DTV broadcasting in a test environment, my multiplexer only accepts CBR input in MPEG-2 TS containing MPEG-4 h.264 video/ MPEG-4 AAC audio.

Just adding: I know aviDEMUX's Constant Bit Rate one pass won't give me exactly constant BitRate.

I tried TSmuxer with mux CBR at 8000Kbps and VBV buffer size between 200 and 1000ms

This is the error I got (itīs too long to be posted on it entirety because there are too many buffer overflows).:

VBV buffer overflow at position 1.46986 sec
    .
    .
    .
VBV buffer overflow at position 287.42 sec
    ---------------------------------------
Too many errors! tsMuxeR is terminated.

So I tried to buffer for shorter periods, but still the buffer keeps overflowing. I figure ther is something else to it.

Is there any luck - In creation of CBR TS file with TSmuxer ?

    Thanks and Regards,

I got around my problem using avidemux for transcoding and remultiplexing with VLC. I never got to a perfect solution that I could recommend here, but I had to abandon TSMuxer and I never figured what caused the VBV overflow. Are you trying to create DVB/ISDB compliant streams?
