    Hi guys!

Haven’t posted on here for a while – posted on the capturing forum a lot!

I have a question with Adobe Encore 2.0.

I just bought it, and I took one virtual tutorial and have read two text tutorials, however, I’m having an ongoing problem that I just can’t kick!!

Every time I try to insert a Timeline (Ctrl-T) I keep getting the following error message:

Here's the error message I keep getting:

    Could not import file FILE-NAME.avi.
Video files for this project must have a resolution of 720x480, 720x486, or 704c480.

At this point, all I want to do is start creating your most basic menu template for a DVD.
I’ve searched google ‘till the sun went down, but no luck!!!

Any help would be appreciated, I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong!

    Thanks for reading.

That sounds like you have a non-dvd format resolution. In order for it to be dvd mode you need to have it formated to dvd specs. Its telling you your file is not ready as it is. Programs like tmpgenc can reencode it to your proper spec.

Read the what is dvd section https://www.videohelp.com/dvd for the proper resolutions of your area (ntsc usa/canada/mexico - japan? pal is basically everyone else). Once you get it into your proper dvd resolution you should be able to proceed as normal. (don't forget the audio must be 48khz for dvd).

Try gspot or avicodec on the file to see what the current resolution of the video is then you'll know what you need to convert it from.

your avi file must have a pal or ntsc resolution
you can make it with avisynth and fitcd and import (all files) the avs ,I think so

or encode first the avi with a mpeg encoder in mpeg or mpv/m2v and a audio stream (mp2 or ac3)

Simpler to keep this one going and have a mod move it.

When you insert a new timeline, do you do this by adding an AVI file to the project ? (I don't use Encore, so I am not familiar with the workflow)

If so, what are the details of the source (Codec, resolution, framerate) ?
