Since DVD discs are almost as cheap as regular CD media, I am wondering who uses DVD discs for only movie backups, or for data backup as well.

I voted both. I dont use cdrs for data anymore. I simply use my pendrive if the file is only a couple megabytes(and I want it on another computer) otherwise I burn them to dvds(if its for archival purposes). The only reason I buy cdrs anymore is to make audio cds. If I ever get a mp3 player I will have no use for cdrs.

Both. In my case about 80 % for Movies. 20 % for data storage.
