I have been trying for ages to find a way to add some data files (HTML, pitcures, javscript files) on to a disk along with a movie. I currently have the movie on a DVD-R and there is enough space for the data files. But I can't find any software that will let me combine DVD video with ROM data and burn them onto the same disk.

I'm a newbie, so please speak slowly! Can anyone help?

What dvd authoring/burning software are you using now? You can in for example nero burning rom choose to create a dvd-video and add the video_ts to the video_ts folder and then add the data files to another folder.

Whjat a great thing it is to know what you are talking about! You are awesome, thank you Baldrick

Only one problem remains - the new DVD I've created has a label which has truncated my desired 22-character Volume Label (which I had entered into the correct field prior to burning) to 15 characters. Is this a limitation of Nero Burning ROM?

PS I had been using Roxio but have had many problems with it on all kinds of issues.

I believe that's a limit of the type of file system you are using. But you can select Level 2 which allows 31 characters. However some players may not be able to display them all.

Ahh .. just saw this sites guide to video structure.
So the concept is that if all video files are in the video_ts folder, then the DVD player is happy. All other files can simply be read by a PC.

I have been wanting to do the same thing, except want to do this with the Sony VRD-MC5 burner, and put JPEG's on before I finalize .. I doubt it will let me. Any comments?

No, it won't. However you can always write to a DVD RW, then bring it back to your PC, copy the Video_TS folder to your HDD, add a data folder full of jpegs, then burn the lot as discussed above.
