    1. On the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, click Start, and then click Run.

    2. In the Run dialog box, type dxdiag

    3. Click OK. A dialog box displays the version that you are running.

    OK thanks.

    I have DirectX 9.0c

I figured that was what I had but I wanted to make sure.

I'm not scared of the RUN / COMMAND PROMPT ... use it for PULLDOWN.EXE thank you BUT ...

Couldn't they just put something in the CONTROL PANAL somewhere?

Seems overly "complicated" not to have it listed somwhere simple.

    Here ya go... http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4017.html

'This is the Control Panel for Microsoft's DirectX 9.0c with a variety of configuration settings. To install, please copy the directx.cpl into the Windows/system32 folder. Now you have the chance to access the Control Panel from your Settings menu. Alternatively click on the file to launch the panel. It's designed for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/2003'

EDIT: I installed it. Works like a charm.
