I captured video from my VCR using PicVideo's mjpeg codec set at quality 18 and the audio is pcm at cd quality. After I capturing I check it out and it played fine with no sound or video issues. I used virtual dub to cut it out the ending credits. After virtual dub is done, I tried fast fowarding to then end and the wmp would give me an error. I've also tried another player and it would give me the same error. It seemed to play correctly. I went ahead and encoded it with tmpenc but after encoding, the video would lose sound after a little while. Anybody know what went wrong with virtual dub or can recommend another program that will do avi editing?

Did you make your cuts at the key frames? (Use the "key" buttons to locate them.) If you only cut off the end credits that shouldn't be the problem though.

Check what you have got first, if sound is gone, then you have bad frames
