Your probably missing the xvid codec. Get a copy of Gspot and open avi with it. It will tell u wot codec you need and whether it is installed

  4. already ran it thru gspot, tells me the codec is divx4 , moonlight windivx decoder filter, which i have installed on my system. however, directshow has used another codec, subtitle mixer to play the file. may be this is the problem. why has direct show used different codec?

  5. hi,
it sounds like to me that you are missing your xvid codec- my pc acted the sameway before i installed the ace mega cedec pack.
you can also install xvid codec seperatly, just do a google search if the links suggested on site arnt working.
