I know that VirtualDub does not support IEEE1394 DV capture, but does it support EDITING DV-AVI video file ? I could not load these types of file since it asked for specific DV codec. Any advice, thanks you very much.

If you use MediaStudio/VideoStudio to transfer the DV stream, you will get a DV Type-1 AVI, which means non editable video in Premiere, VirtualDub or any other video software which is Video for Windows based. It uses Ulead Video Capture plug-in which you can't change.
You will need to install a Type-2 VfW DV codec (Adaptec, MainConcept) and convert your Type-1 file to Type-2. -
in video studio and media studio you can set you save file options to a dv type 2 avi. Then you can use the file in virtual dub. I think you need the panasonic dv codec though to be read in vdub, doing a search in the forums you shuold find a link. If you are just going to direct stream and frameserve to tmpgenc that is all you need. But if you wish to save the edited dv you will want the mainconcept dv codec. Hope this helps...

You can try using AviSynth and use DirectShowSource(...) in the avs file. Open the AVS file in VirtualDub.

Do a search for Canopus DV File converter, which will convert losslessly between various DV formats.
