Hello...
This is the first time I capture from DV source.... I have some problems..
When i have got a .avi file from ScenAlyzer i get pretty good quality but very big size in mb. How do i convert it to DiVX and better quality? I tried to use virtualdub, but when i should open the .avi i got an error saying:
"
Couldnt locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown)
VirtualDub requires a Video For Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable
"
I tried to look for a codec or something but didnt find anything. Does anyone know how to do it?![]()
And the second question, less priority: When i make a SVCD form the .avi with TMPGenc, i get like "lines" when the camera moves fast. I kind of get lines thats being messed out on the movie when somebody for example runs on the movie... why?
Thx!
beejay

1 DV is a large format - it only uses 5:1 copmpression so files will be large.
2 ViirtualDub only accepts VFW codecs - you can try and track down a Canopus decode codec - it's a VFW codec that gives much better results than the directshow MS codec.
Unless they are noise - most likely they are interlacing lines.
http://www.100fps.com has an excellent breakdown of this with lots of very nice pictures.
