I had the same problem and I was pulling my hair out. When I finally got it too work, the audio was not in synch. I finaly said screw it and bought an ati TV wonder 7500.
My problems are gone.
One thing you may want to check is that the tv card is connected to the sound card. -

I also am using an ATI 7500. Can I ask what version of the capture drivers and VDub you are using? It was working fine and then suddenly I can't capture audio, I think because I upgraded the ATI capture drivers.

I don't know what capture card it is....it think it is a B8T8 or something like that....i got it 4 years ago with a tiny pc.......
It only runs in win 98, not xp
How do I connect it to the sound card?
Thanks,

You say that you hear sound through your speakers. Play with the windows master volume control in your panel. If it adjusts the sound, then you don't need to connect capture card to the sound card.
Second, windows has two different views for sound (in the windows volume control panel). 1 for playing and 1 for recording. So, even if you are recording and you hear sound, the sound is most likely being heard through the playing side.
Bring up the windows volume control (the playing view) and get the detail window with all the inputs. By selectively muting each input, find the one that controls the sound for your video card. Switch to the recording view, and make sure that same input is not muted.
Most programs also set and or memorize certain settings. So even if you unmute it. You might have to unmute it again after your video recording software is started.

P.S. Personal experience. Stay away from ATI for video capture. Alot of people including I have trouble recording the audio and video in sync (search the forum).
