Hello, I have an .mkv file that I want to convert to the BD format and view on my standalone Sony Blu-ray player.

as a test, I used Nero BD(UDF) and burnt the mkv file to a Bluray disk, where it played OK on the sony player, but it was still an .mkv file.

Tried tsMuxer and it generated the required Certificate and BDMV folders, and was viewable on the Sony player in full screen 16:9 format, but the people on it was quite thinner and taller than they should be , like they had been horizontally compressed, and vertically enlarged. It was terribel to view.

In the .mkv file details it showed :
    Profile: High@4.1 Resolution: 1920:808p Frame Rate 223.976

Can anyone please advise how I might get the correct output resolution?

    regards,
    Jill

You must reconvert to get correct size(1920x1080). With for examle uncropmkv.

  3. Your player is stretching the 2.35:1 video to 1.78:1. That's the fault of the player.

Thanks for the comments above, much appreciated.

Baldrick, I tried uncropmkv as you suggested, but it would not run. As seen in attached screen print, it would not accept the 808 height resolution.

Can you please suggest alternative software?

Uncropmkv is accepting it,it is resizing it properly, its just an initial message that the original size isn't compliant.

In other words, click on Queue, then Start.

thanks for this information. This is the first time I have used uncropmkv, and there is no help file and I can't find anything on how it works. Please bear with me as a newbie to this

After I pressed queue and Start, I end up with an unreadable file with .264 at the end of the name, with zero kB file size. uncrop-mkv indicated it was "Done!", although at the beginning of the process of loading the mkv file I get the message avsinfo.exe had stopped working.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction as to what next to do?

Install ffdshow and avisynth 2.58 and haali media splitter if you haven't already done that and then use uncropmkv. Also do some reading on encoding concerning mkv and other types of files.

hi, I loaded the software described by johns0, and it ran beautifully, resulting in an uncropped_mkv file with the correct resolution ( 1920 x 1080) and a .264 file. Thanks for that

Can anyone please advise the best way to make the BD folders ( BDMV and Certificate) and burn to a BD-R disk?

Try multiAVCHD 4.1 for authoring and use imgburn for disc burning. You can use tsmuxer if you don't need any menus.
