I am attempting to convert an mkv file to a BluRay format dvd without re-encoding, using the guide at http://brothers_grim.webs.com/bd/index.html. Everything seems to go well, but when I try to play the resulting dvd in my player, a Sony BDP-S350, the picture is doubled horizontally, with the copy on the right in greyscale. The file info, as displayed by the player, says that the video is 1080p/60, but it is actually 720p/23.976. Is there an additional step I need to perform in order to get the player to recognize the correct resolution and framerate?

Here is the info for the original mkv file, as detected by MediaInfo:

  2. Blu-ray players must have files that meet the spec. If you simply remuxed 1280x544 into a Blu-ray file many players won't play it. You need 1280x720.
