    I tried to add subtitles using the guide.
    Everything runs fine with VirtualDub, but I got an Illegal Floating Error with TMPGEnc when I try to frameserve and encode to MPG.
    Is the VBR audio from the avi file the trouble here ?

    Probably it is. First decompress the the audio to wav with VirtualDub.

    I was right. You can't frameserve with VBR Audio. Now it works perfectly.

    I'm also having trouble frameserving to TMPG--did you select "no audio" in VirtualDub before frameserving, and use the extracted WAV as audio source in TMPG??
