  1. I was able to extract a vob from a damaged dvd, however the vob is 3 gigs. What freeware can I use to split the vob into standard 1023MB sections?

If you want to turn it into a DVD (which is implied by wanting it back to standard VOB size chunks) then hech54 has nailed it. Because not only do you need to get the VOBs to a compliant size, but you also need the other files you are missing. Authoring will create these missing files for you.

Are you sure that the VOB you have is complete ?

Not free but if it's a one-off job use the free or the trial version of VSO ConvertXtoDVD - it will reauthor from a vob file/s

ConvertX would re-encode it -- bad idea.
Re-authoring with authoring software. Try TMPGEnc Authoring Works

IIRC, DVDstyler will author w/o re-encoding, if mpeg2 compliant of course..Or demux with DgIndex and re-author with say, DVDAuthorGui or similar..

  8. Thanks for the replies.
I did try to author with TDA 1.6 and ulead before posting here. I also used ifoedit and vobblanker before posting. None worked for my vob.
    Heres what did:

Shrink 2.3 split my 3gig vob up but stopped at 99% complete, it did everything but the ifo and bup files. No encoding it was done in 2 minutes. I then used ifoedit for the ifo/bup files. And finally authored with tda 1.6.
