Hi, I have a sub file and I'd like to convert it in srt format, but I don't have the idx file; is it possible to convert the file anyway or to recover it from the sub file?

Well, that depends... there's more than one type of .sub file. The .sub/.idx format are graphic/bitmap subs, and yes, you'd need both to work with that format of subtitles. There's also a plain text-format .sub, as well.

How big is the .sub file? If it's relatively small, like 100k or less, try opening it in Notepad to see if you can read the contents. If you can, you should be able to convert it to .srt using Subtitle Workshop, or other tools. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

	Hi,

Try SubtitleCreator although I can't guarantee it will open all the subtitles.

 Cheers
