My laptop has 2 connections on it- a wireless one for the coffeeshop and a dialup for my ISP from home.

Lately, but not always, opening a page in the browser will activate the 'try to connect via dialup' even when using the wireless.

Where the heck do you look for a prob like this?

  2. Look in your browser's connection settings. For IE7, click on the Tools bar at the right-hand side of the menu bar. For IE6, click Tools on the menu. Then, for both, select Internet Options then the Connections tab. You'll see three radio buttons:

    () Never dial a connection
() Dial whenever a network connection is not present
() Alway dial my default connection

Select the first option, close the window and restart the browser. If it is already selected, the problem will lie elsewhere.

    Not guaranteed, though!

I admire a user like ahhaa. He had a problem and asked a question instead of coming on with a "Vista sucks' post.

The vast majority of Vista "problems" are:

    - The user doesn't know how to do or set up something especially if the same function was done differently or didn't exist in XP (or Windows 3.1 for that matter).

    - Old and incompatible drivers

    - Old and incompatible software

    - Inadequate hardware
