I captured a MPEG-2 file from my analog TV Tuner . That file is perfectly in sync .

But if i convert the file to another format , the audio starts going out of sync as the video plays on .

I hve tried converting again and again , to the same result .

OK now wat i did is copy the streams in the original file to a new file with avidemux . The audio and video in the new file new file were out of sync. Look at the screens .

Note : The video playtime has reduced from 3:11 to 2:49 . How did this happen ?

Original File info with G-Spot and Mediainfo :

Reulting file info with G-spot and Mediainfo :

    G-spot doesn't show anything .

The framerate is same in both the files , but the audio and video r out of sync .

Post a g-spot screenshot of the original video, and the converted video. The usual reason for a slow drift out of sync is changing the framerate during conversion without adjusting the audio to compensate. The g-spot screenshots will confirm if this is your problem.

The change in running time would explain the sync issue. The problem now is finding out why the running time has changed. The framerates don't appear to have changed. I would start by finding a different application for putting your mpg file into a transport stream container.

the audio runtime stays 3 m 11 s , but the video runtime changes to 2 m 49 s . I have tried encoding with other applications like Megui which produce the same effect .

Using the quickstream fix in videoredo often fix mpeg2 so you can convert them after without sync problems. Videoredo is not free though so if you are looking for free alternatives you could try run the mpeg2 through projectx or pvastrumento.

But it could also be another problem.
