I have the same problem as: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1602592 (read it).
There's just a tiny difference: my files are AVI, and not VOB. Is it the same procedure?

For avi you can use virtualdub. Load the file and go to File-save wav. It will extract the audio to wav and you can convert to anything you want. Or you can go to "audio" tab and select wav to add a wav track.
For other formats or if it is a vob file use virtualdub mod or virtualdubmpeg2 - then you would use "streams" tab and choose stream list to extract the audio if its not wav.
You can use gspot to determine the audio format - most likely its a mp3 format that can easily be converted to and from wav with a program like audacity.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
