I have a big problem! My dvd player streches my movie both horizontaly and vertically. So when i encode to vcd, i have to choose 4:3 display, on the advanced tab, only then i get black boarders on both sides. But how can i get black borders vertically without uisng the clip filter( cause then i clip away the part i want to se!) So is it possible to add top\button boarders?
Thanks

I am not sure, what your problem is. Simply tell us the resolution of the source. If it is a MPEG, you have to know the displayed aspect ratio.

My sources are 640*272 23.976 fps, i want to play it in widecreen. But when i encode it with 1:1 VGA and full screen (keep aspect ratio) Every thing looks perfect on my pc, but when i play it on my dvd player, the edges are cut of! Therefor i have to have a squeesed picture (horizantaly) in tmpgenc, which i onlly achive with 4:3 ont the source aspect ratio. Now the edges are not cut of, but top and bottom are cut of. So i'm wodering if it's possible squeesed the picture vertically?

Source avi 640x272. TMPG> source aspect ratio 1:1 VGA> video arrange method "full screen [keep aspect ratio]".
Target aspect ratio 4:3. This is the easiest way, but you can not see the entire picture on TV due to the TV overscan area. That's why I suggest to use the video arrange method "center[custom size]" 320x124. Target resolution 352x240, aspect ratio 4:3. The resize calculation I did with FitCD. -

I have an AVI file but they are different sizes Truman so how will I know which one I need to put what Settings to resize it....??? As some of them if I use a Source Aspect Ratio of 1:1 and full screen I will not be able to see the subtitles.. so I followed your tip by using a Center custom and putting it as 320 x 220. By using this settings will I still be able to play it on my DVD player and see it on the TV set ?? So far most DVDs I have created have played but this anime Divx I got could see subtitles on the PC only under media player but when converted to VCD I could not see them as they were like at the bottom.. had to set my TV set to do a 16 X something then the subtitles are visible.. I would like to redo it into an MPEG file but not sure if this setting of 320 x 220 is possible while still at 1:1 ??

I calculate any resizing with FitCD. Center (custom size) defines the source aspect ratio.
For example 320x218, target resolution 352x240 (DAR 4:3).
