MPG movie file on two CDR disks. Guy who gave it to me said it was SVCD. I copied both CDR disks to HDD. There they still work fine. I had to install WinDVD6 to play it. Merged them using TMPGEnc and again using DVTool and I tried another app that I forgot the name. With each merge the resulting file has several blocks where the sound is missing. Maybe about 25% of the sound is missing. If I do it again using the same app, the places where the sound is missing will be different. I followed all instructions. One time when i did it there was no missing sound blocks from the first half(1st disk), but several blocks missing from 2nd half.
What am I doing wrong. Please help me.
Paul

First run it through AVICodec to see what the files really are. Also, what is your end product? If you want to turn it to DVD, there are easier ways. One is SVCD2DVDMPG. I wouln't recommend merging the files. That is better done in the authoring stage.
You can do this with TMPGEnc also if you check the guides to the left. -
AVICodec can not open it. End Product is MPG, in TMPGEnc I selected Video-CD and I also tried other selections, DVTool did not give a choice of file type to save as, except that I had to key in a file name and extension, so I used xyz.mpg
I need to keep the same format, so I can burn it onto CDR.
Yea, meybe better not to merge, but both disks are overburned and I can not do a disk copy. Well I did once with an old blank memorex, newer ones and other brands will not take this amount of overburn. From what i just learned not all players will play the same amount of overburn anyway. So, if I did get it burned, then my friends who want copies might not be able to play the full thing. So, I want to merge, then cut into three. I did this and that was when I first noticed the missing sound blocks. Then I played the single merged file and found that it also had the missing sound blocks. The originals have complete sound.
