  1. Hey, I'm not a total tech failure, and know a few things on how to operate a computer, but this just has me stumped. I downloaded a .mpg file off of a torrent yesterday, and it completed yesterday. When I opened it last night, it was complete, but now when I try to open it, it skips to the 30 second point. Strangely, it doesn't want to open in Quicktime or Realplayer, only VLC. It played fine in VLC until an hour or two ago, but now it only starts at the 30 second mark. I've tried going back in the file, but it keeps skipping to that same spot. The rest of the file plays fine, and I've used MPEG corrector ran via Wine to correct the file, and it also has that problem. I'm completely stumped, so please help!

I know it sounds simple, but sometimes I have to restart VLC. Also, make sure you have the newest version. You could also put it in a folder of other videos and play the one before it, then skip forward to the video in question via the VLC controller. Just to make sure, other vids still play fine in VLC?
