9/10 to me means nothing. The actual price is usually what they go by. Here in MI its $2.70 for regular in some areas, others $2.56....depends on the town you go to. The highest i've seen here was $2.80 a few weeks ago. It takes about $35 to fill my car up since it fills at 13.5 gallons. Ive heard that it may go up even more before it will eventually come down. If only they would raise the work wages to combat the inflation.

I sure miss the days where gas was just $1.55 a gallon.

4 litres/gal, approx = $6.68/gal. We don't have too much to complain about.

$2.59 in Jacksonville, FL, if you're lucky. Hopefully any price gougers will get gouged themselves if they try it out your way after the storm....

I miss the days when gas was 32 cents!!!

Big cars with big engines, and smoke belching out the tailpipe!

Today we drive clean-burning fuel-efficient cars.

Where did we go wrong?!!! :P

    Joking, of course!

  13. I'm gonna show my age - the first year I was able to drive, '72, there was a big gas war that summer. It averaged 25¢/gal, and one night actually dropped to 23¢! By '74 there was the first gas crisis and it was 60¢.

In '79, when I was California, the Iranian Revolution "caused" gas lines. Then, miracle of miracles, the price reached $1.00 and there was gas everywhere. Imagine that!

What's really strange about all of this is that 5 or so years ago gas was less than $1.00/gal in parts of central Florida. Now it's 2.5 times that....

My new car, like a lot of them these days, requires 91 for it to run without pulling any timing (knock correction) so gas for that has been at $2.60 a gallon. Sure I could put plain 87 in it but then I wouldn't be able to wind it up anymore, and being that I love to drive I'll keep paying whatever price gas costs.

I do love hearing the "urban commando" SUV owners complain about gas prices though. You know, the ones who never take their SUV off roads and are always running around town with it? It was their choice to buy the gas guzzler so I don't see why they should be complaining about gas prices. It's when the folks who are driving hybrids start complaining about gas prices that we're probably in trouble

That's called 'choice'!!! We all have a choice. When gas was
around $1 I was driving out in the country all the time. Now that
the price has climbed I only drive when I need to. (I'm NOT complaining
about the price because we, in the USA, are getting off easy........so far!).

I haven't heard anybody in the 'real world' complain about gas prices. I've
only seen complaints on the internet and in the news.

In my area BIG gas-guzzlers are the norm. And people around here
have lead feet when they drive, meaning that they mash the gas pedal
to the floor when they accelerate. I'm starting to see a few hybrids, but
    only a few!

Something that I'm seeing a lot of are motorcycles. Not only Harleys,
which are usually around here anyways, but also a lot of 'scooter' type
motorcycles. They used to be called 'Vespas'.

So, we all have a choice!.

Side note........... I never hear anybody complain about the amount of
    fuel that cruise ships use!

Also, I NEVER hear anybody complain about the high cost of cigarettes.
They only complain about the cost of the gas for their car so that they
can drive to the store to buy their cigs!!!

Gas costs more in Europe because of their taxes. It's higher for everyone around the globe (well... okay, unless you're the country that pumps it out of the ground. Still cheap for them).

And 4 years ago SUV/Truck owners didn't foresee all of this happening. 9/11, Iraq/Afghanistan, bad hurricane season...

While I'm not defending the urban mom driving around the Escalade, I can feel some sympathy for them. My car has an 18 gallon tank. If I forget to fill that up before it gets to E, then it's one expensive trip to the gas station!

Ahhh, the gold old days. In late 1968, I rode my motorcycle from Portland to Eastern Oregon and remember distinctly stopping off at a Signal station just west of Sandy, Oregon (remember Signal Gas?). They had 2 pumps, Regular & Ethyl. I splurged on the ethyl at 26 cents a gallon (sigh).

BTW, this morning on a local talk-show station, an "energy analyst" (can't remember the name) predicted that, starting next spring, there will be an oil glut ... forcing prices into a steady decline, even through the summer months, right up to (ahem ahem) the 2006 elections ... after which the glut is expected to end.

  27. I used Corel Photopaint to resize the photo.

Photoshop could be used, although I don't have that program.

I think 'The Gimp' can resize also.

Did a search for "infraview', but could not find it. BJ_M must've meant "IrfanView".
