    Hi all,

I have looked around on the site for programs to use to convert ogm to avi or ogm to dvd and I need specific info. I mostly need my ogm;s and mkv's to be converted to avi since i am using nerovision to make dvd menus etc. Anyhow I noticed a lot of ppl recommending different programs and what I wanted to know is which one is the best for what I need, im looking for easy to use mostly and also something that doesnt take literally a week to convert 1 file.

    Hope u can help me

    For ogm to avi:
mencoder -ovc copy -oac pcm -aid # input.ogm output.avi
where # is the number audio stream that you want to keep (if there is more than one.

An ogm's video is always compatible with avi.
Surely Nero vision can handle an ogm directly though?

Converting an mkv to avi can be more complicated since the video is not always compatible. Could be VBR, could be native MPEG4, AVC, RV, etc.
