  2. MPEG Video Wizard, mpeg-vcr, tmpgenc dvd author, cuttermaran. I'm sure there are others.

Edit: cuttermaran can't work from a straight VOB file, you'll have to demux it first.

  5. VideoRedo works great. I tried several others like the Womble products and Cutterman etc. VideoRedo is frame accurate, it's cheap ($50) if you want to buy and/or comes with free trial.

  6. For some tests I have been doing on a recorder, I tried several mpg editing freeware programs. I settled on mpeg2schnitt because it does not require Microsoft .NET Framework which is also free but a 26MB download. Mpeg2schnitt requires that the beginning of a cut begin on an I frame and like cuttermaran needs the VOB file demux'ed to a M2V and AC3 stream. It is pretty easy to use but there is little English language support.

You could do it the hard way an use vobedit .

    Open vob with vobeditor

    some guessing here

Decide what vob is near the end of the 3 minute mark at the front

Check last vob id for number , if its say 7

Go back where you where and rename all vob id's from 3 minute mark to 8 , and work back to the start .

Do the same for the end , but use 9 for vob id .

Then get vobedit to demux by vob id to a new folder , and your done .

Long , and hard , may need you to do more adjustments later , but damn accurate .

Its the same method I use to move cells from one vob too another .

    ----------------------

Or you could use virtualmod to load the file , and place locked frame checks in the right places , and output by frameserving too bbmpeg to generate the new mp2 and mv2 files (uncheck the mutiplexers) .

If you miss that , you can use batchdemux to strip the streams apart later .

Mp2 can be converted to ac3 using besweet .

Then use muxman to combine the ac3 and mv2 into a new vob file .

Nice , both ways may take time , but are noteworthy because its done using freeware .

If somethings worth doing correctly , it's worth spending the time on them .
