  1. Hi,

I've capped a live video stream (with CocSoft StreamDown) to my HD in ASF format.

The file plays correcly in Winows Media Player. But now I'd like to open it in virtualdub through avisynth.

So I use the following script:
    Code:
    directshowsource("c:\temp\reflector38142.asf")
When I try to open it in virtualdub, I get the following error message:

How can I open it, or does it existe some toll which can open such asf files ?

Virtualdub can't open ASF files due to a legal threat from Micro$oft. Use ASF Tools to convert it to an AVI.

  3. Virtualdub can work with asf/wmv files if they are processed by avisynth.
The only problem is that this file has no duration because I was capped from a live broadcast and not from a file stored on a server.

ASF Tools is unstable and crash (it has never worked for me).

  4. For ASF files in avisynth you need a fps (frames per second parameter)

e.g. directshowsource("c:\temp\reflector38142.asf",FPS= 25) where 25 = PAL framerate. Change to whatever if NTSC

This may or may not be the answer but it's worth giving it a try[/quote]

  5. I've tried with fps=25 but always the same error message about the duration of the video.

  7. I've tried with asf tools but it crash when trying to repair the file (unknown padding flag 41).

    I will give vdub 1.3c a try.
