  1. hi

I have a DVD that i wish to back up on to one DVD5, the problem is that this DVD is dual sided and the VOBS are titled the same on both sides, can i just rename the VOBS from side two ?

I have a Video TS and VTS 01_0 to 01_04 from both sides with the corresponding BUP and IFO files, any suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks

  2. Re-author with DVD Shrink, adding all titles sequentially.

Is it dual layer also, or single?
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

  5. Hi

its single layer both sides, i could use shrink to reauthor and DVDR to compress but i am going to have to remove a few frames as well between the end of side one and beginning of two so it looks as if there is no easy solution

    You can do this.
Use shrink to reauthor your video as mentioned above. Use the start stop option if you wish to trim beginning or end frames of the video then save in shrink, but with no compression. Shrink will give you an error message that file will not fit on one dvd-r, click ignore and allow shrink to render the file. You now have a single file of your two-sided movie, uncompressed. Now process this file through your high quality compression engine(I use dvd2dvdr with cce basic), DVDRB, dvd2svcd, or simply TMPGEnc express 3. This will give you a higher quality compression of two-sided disc than shrink or any other transcoder can do. BTW, if you use TMPGEnc express you can bypass the shrink step, sequentially adding both sides of your video directly into TMPGEnc express, which also has a trim function to remove those frames that you don't want. good luck.
