  1. I've noticed lately that Windows Explorer keeps getting errors and shutting down/restarting fairly frequently. It isn't really hurting anything but its annoying and I'd like to find out what the problem is. I've had it happen a few times in the past when memory needed a refreshing, mainly when running Edonkey, but this is happening even when I'm not running Edonkey now. I did download critical updates a few days ago, 5 patches I believe and I'm wondering if thats the cause of it. anyone else had such problems after these latest critical updates?

No problems here since updating. Matter of fact I've only had a handful of crashes since getting XP iun November. I think most of them were from software other than MS. How about a little more info such as what the error is, you could also try the MS knowledge base. Do a search for the error. Possibly a virus?

Just to clarify is it Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer, they are two seperate programs, at least in name.

I was having similar problems about 6 months back on my work machine...I wrote down the errors, visited the MS Knowledge base and there they were with directions on how to fix.

  4. its Windows Explorer. I'll check the MS database as soon as I can. I'll copy down the error report next time I run into the problem. All it says is Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close but I"ll get more in depth info when I get home.

It could be spyware that is causing the error.

  9. So far no more problems so I'll hold off on Hijak This since I hear it can have some major side effects if you aren't careful with it.
