  1. hello all,
for christmas, i have recieved a Lite-on Lvw dvd-recorder (its basically a dvd burner in a vcr setup) and i jumped at the idea of being able to keep my obscure cartoons and movies that may never have been used again in a digital format (i really got sick of VHS). anyway I've been burning into the night until suddenly i hit a tape that blasted "Protected Content" on the menu bar. Shocked and aggravated that Macrovision stretched way beyond dvd's, i tried a stupid tapestry of wires and cables to somehow get it going (i know it sounds dumb, ive been reading the boards for a while and havent seen anyone with a solution like that). ANYWAY, in my mad-grab of cables, i plugged in a thingy that came with my computer tv-out card (which is downstairs and not in convenient reach) that turns the video portion of the AV signal into an s-video connection. to my surprise, this proved somehow feasable and the burner did not flash macrovision and actually recorded.......BUT.....now i have no color in the signal whatsoever and if i do its a sporatice pang of G-R-B that shoots across.....does anyone know if i am anywhere near a logical solution that can right the signal. the vcr is caveman-basic and only has mono out and video out......thats it.....

i hope i wont have to break the bank....or just give up

    Binges,
    Dan

You cannot swap signals. Must be ALL composite or ALL s-video.
