  1. I seem to have problems with ripping DVDs on my system(XP). I am using DVD Decrypter and have been able to do a few. I have also used Smartripper but the same problems have come up. After about 80% of the process it starts to have problems with reading sectors. Is there anything that I am overlooking????

  2. Try using a different program like smartripper, if the problems still persist you can divert your attention towards the disc and the drive itself.

  5. Thats a good point but it happens in the last 20% of ripping. I have been successful with 1 but I keep having problems with the programs reading sectors.

Try a different DVD ROM Drive in your system. I've found some DVD RoMs to be old and develop optical read problems. Just another suggestion. The process of elimination, hardware/software.

  7. I have given that thought, the DVD rom is pretty new(about 5 months old) but would it make any difference since it is a combo drive. This problem is very irritating because I was able to back up Harry Potter successfully but am unable to do any others. Im sure the answer will be the simple one but until then I will pull out hair. The combo drive I am using is:

    Philips CDD5301
    cdrw 32x 10x rewrite
    40x read
    dvd 12x
