  1. Just tried to make my first DVD backup of The Transporter Region 1 but i've run into a problem.

Its a DVD-5 disc so i read that the best and easiest way to do this was with DVD Decrypter. So i read the instructions on this site and extracted the disc as an .ISO. But in the same folder was another file with the same name but with a .MDS extention. The guide made no mention of this.

Anyway I carried on the burnt the .ISO to DVD. Half and hour later the program said the burn was successful, but the end result was a disc that won' t play.

I check the DVD the only file on there is a VIDEO_TS file with all the .VOB .IFO and .BUP.

    Using DVD Decrypt v3.1.6.0

Anyone else have any problems? Anyone know what i've done wrong?

Oh yeah it comes up with a 'This disc is not formatted to play in this region'. Message comes up on both a region free PC DVD-ROM & standalone R/F Toshiba 220E.

Just tried playing the .VOB file directly from the disc via PowerDVD and they work. So it looks like a region protection thing.

    Any ideas?

    Thx

    let me guess -

you're using Win98 or WinME, and your hard drive is formatted for FAT32.

So you have a 4Gb limit on file size.

I have used DVD Decrypter with no probs on a FAT 32 drive, you should end up with 3 files:

    .iso
    .mds
    .dvd

When you select the file to burn the disc, don't select the .iso file, select the .dvd file instead.

    You should be okay.

  3. No using WinXP SP1 NTFS

Where does this .dvd file come into it? The guide doesn't mention that.

    Thx

    hmmmm...

I don't think the guide mentions the .dvd file because in theory, you can't use .iso mode on non-NTFS drives.

Did you get a .dvd file when you ripped the disc?

If not, this is a new one on me....

Just doing some tidying up. This came from the other thread.

BananaSkin, if you accidentally post in the wrong forum let a moderator know so they can move it, or just wait for one of us to move it. Creating a second thread just splits the discussion up and makes everything confusing.
