  1. I just recently started burning DVD backups (just switched from SVCD). I've got the procedure down pat, currently using DVDDecrypter & DVD2ONE. For burning, I've tried 3 different methods and all seem to work fine for me. I've used Nero, RecordNow Max, and IFOEdit/IMGtool to create an image and burn with DVDDecrypter.

While all the methods seem to play fine on my Apex AD-660 player, I know I'm going to be sharing stuff with friends. Therefor, I'm looking for what would be considered the most COMPATIBLE method of burning DVD-R's, ie will play on a wide variety of standalone players, including Xbox. I've always used Nero for my SVCD's so I'm familiar with it, at least until I got into DVD, I didn't realize there were so many format choices, and I don't know the differences or which is the best format to select. I tried one DVD UDF/ISO with Nero, and it worked fine. I burned a movie with RecordNow Max, works fine. Did a few with DVDDecrypter (from image), works fine. All work for me, so I cannot make an educated decision for the best one in order to stay as compatible as possible with my friends variety of players. Any advice would be appreciated!

  2. One more question. If I burn a movie one way which works for me, and later discover that I need to burn it another way for a friend, can I simply rip my DVD-R and then re-burn it with another program to hopefully work with theres? Or would it be too late at that point?

    Hi,

Ive spent the last week looking into this. I have tried 10 different DVD-R discs and 4 different programs and 4 different DVD players.

To sum-up your problem. I have chosen Prassi Primo

Upgrade to Nero 5.5.10.0 and follow the wizard. I've had 100% compatibility on my and my friends DVD players - you just have to make sure that the media is regognised.

    Regards,

    Rob
