I have just upgraded to windows vista home premium and am unable to use my dvd santa program as it is not compatible with vista.
I do not like nero and prefer not to use it.
Is there a simple (preferably free) program that I can use to convert my AVI files to DVD?
(please be gentle with me its my first post)![]()
Please help.
Thank you.

You likely can't go wrong with ConvertX, and the cost is minmal. At least a whole lot cheaper than Nero.
And it works fine with Vista.
Some free one's you can try, but I don't know how compatible they are with Vista: DVD Flick, FAVC, DIKO, The Film Machine. But none of them do as well as ConvertX, IMO. And there is still the old freeware version of ConvertX, DivxToDVD, available on the ConvertX toolpage.
You might get a copy of ImgBurn also, since you don't use Nero. It is Vista compatible and generally does a better job than Nero at DVD burning.
And welcome to our forums. -
try the trial convertxtodvd and i guarantee you'll like it. Its about 40 bucks but that includes update. It's is the best out there for what you want to do.
