Does this happen only when you skip forward ?, the number of keyframes may be few, so playback would be a problem if you tried to skip forward.

But the AVI may be just fine.

Keyframes every 10 would make the AVI better

This is normal for movies that have been made with a small amount of keyframes. Movies with keyframes every 10 are much better, but smaller files with keyframes every 300 are no use to skip forward, but they will convert ok

    Depends

If you intend sharing the AVI, then there could be problems. If the person who downloads it gets problems with the download, the AVI may have junk frames added. If your perfect AVI now has junk frames, keyframes every 300 will cause a lot of problems. Sound sync and difficult to edit and remove frames at the nearest keyframe.

So keyframes every 10 would produce a good AVI and make it a lot easier to edit if necessary.

On the other hand, if the person gets a perfect copy and is going to view it from start to finish, or convert it to VCD then keyframes every 300 would be fine.

I personally set them at every 10

If you don’t intend sharing it, why is it a AVI
and what is it, so I can download it also

Oh, did you use MP3 or AC3 in the AVI, MP3 would be better "For other people"
