i have 2 h.264 mp4 files that i want to join into a single file, and i tried using avidemux to do this, but i'm not very experienced with the program and i'm getting errors. here is the metadata of both files:

when i open these in avidemux i get a prompt that asks me to convert or not convert which could result in frame accuracy problems. if i choose no, it continues to load the files but then crashes. so i choose to convert when i open the files. i chose append to add the second file after the first. i have my format option set to MP4 and audio/video set to copy. when i save the file, then open it, i notice that the audio and video are not synced properly.Code:General Complete name : D:\Temp\a2.mp4 Format : MPEG-4 Format_Commercial_IfAny : XDCAM EX 25 Format profile : Base Media Codec ID : isom File size : 2.69 GiB Duration : 1h 27mn Overall bit rate mode : Variable Overall bit rate : 4 414 Kbps Encoded date : UTC 2011-09-08 02:04:46 Tagged date : UTC 2011-09-08 02:04:46 Cover : Yes Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format_Commercial_IfAny : XDCAM EX 25 Format profile : High@L4.0 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 3 frames Codec ID : avc1 Codec ID/Info : Advanced Video Coding Duration : 1h 27mn Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 4 096 Kbps Maximum bit rate : 25.0 Mbps Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 23.976 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.082 Stream size : 2.49 GiB (93%) Title : Alexander Revisited part 2 Writing library : x264 core 114 r1924 08d04a4 Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=3 / deblock=1:0:0 / analyse=0x3:0x133 / me=umh / subme=7 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.00 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=1 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=1 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=12 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / interlaced=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=0 / b_adapt=1 / b_bias=0 / direct=1 / weightb=1 / open_gop=0 / weightp=2 / keyint=240 / keyint_min=24 / scenecut=40 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=40 / rc=2pass / mbtree=1 / bitrate=4096 / ratetol=1.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=0 / qpmax=69 / qpstep=4 / cplxblur=20.0 / qblur=0.5 / vbv_maxrate=25000 / vbv_bufsize=25000 / nal_hrd=vbr / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:1.00 Encoded date : UTC 2011-09-08 02:04:46 Tagged date : UTC 2011-09-08 02:05:57 Audio ID : 2 Format : AAC Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec Format profile : LC Codec ID : 40 Duration : 1h 27mn Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 317 Kbps Maximum bit rate : 334 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 198 MiB (7%) Title : Ä Language : English Encoded date : UTC 2011-09-08 02:05:26 Tagged date : UTC 2011-09-08 02:05:57

Try a nightly build (2.6 beta build) , they work better with h.264 than the 2.5.x branch
http://avidemux.razorbyte.com.au/
or
http://avidemux.org/nightly/win32/
alternatively you can try appending in mp4box (yamb) or mkvtoolnix (re-wrap into mkv) -
been a while since this thread, there are updated builds of Avidemux 2.6 for windows, has anyone experienced any issues with the latest build (7800) ?
i am using 2.6 because it works well with combining MP4 movies that i make with ripbot using h264 and aac audio.
the build i'm on now is 7652, 2.6.0 ... -
I don't get why 2.6 is a beta vs 2.5 is the stable version. 2.5 is NOT stable in comparison to 2.6.
