  1. I need to convert a lot of dvd video (VIDEO_TS) files to a single .mpg files..
I am trying to use VideoReDo because it doesn`t re-encode the video, and is very fast. But it also unreliable as it won`t read a lot of files and crashes a lot..
Are there any other software that would allow me to trim and cut media (not only beginning and end), and just save to .mpg without re-encoding..

Thank you very much for help..

Do these DVDs require decrypting and what are you using to decrypt them before you convert them to MPEG?

Taking the video directly from a disc is the only time programs like VOB2MPEG have failed me....and on top of that you wish to trim/edit the video? Ouch. That is something I would have serious misgivings about doing.

I have never had problems using VOB2MPG directly from DVD discs when the discs were not protected, but if you have to, you can always rip with DVDFab first, then use VOB2MPG, then edit. alternatives to VideoRedo include the Womble products (VCR, Video Wizard) or some of the freebies such as MPG2Cut2. Note - most (all ?) of the freebies only cut on keyframes, which can be 12 - 15 frames apart on DVDs.

Although I've never used VideoReDo - "unreliable" is one word I've never seen used along with VideoReDo. There is something going wrong in the process of getting that DVD to the HDD....or it can mean that these are DVD Recorder made discs, crap discs that didn't burn well(memorex, tdk etc etc burned with Roxio or Nero). A good ripping software will probably end the problem. DVDDecrypter is my personal fave....along with DVDFabDecrypter.
