    Hey guys,
    Im having a real pain in the butt issue here i cant solve for my life.I am trying to burn a mpg video file to DVD using the program DVD lab pro 2.I have authored quite a DVD's using this program before and never had this problem. The video and audio are always out of snyc with this file. Now when i play the original MPG everything is perfectly in snyc when i add it to my project the program splits audio and video into 2 files MPV and MPA.When the split happens the beginning of the movie is fine and about 20 minutes in everything starts to be about 3-5 seconds out of sync.checking the time code shows that the audio and video both have this issue in the audio words play 3 second before they should and with video actions accur 5 seconds after they should. For example one line in the movie in the original file happs at 1:50:49 in the split file the words for this line play at 1:50.44 and on the video the action occurs at 1:50:55.I have tryed redownloading the file.Re converting it to other formats all without luck.So any tips or suggestion you can give would be great.

    Also note i already tryed delaying the audio to try and match it up but when i do then the end of the movie is fine and begining is then out of sync.seems i cant win for losing lol. Thanks for the time.

    That sounds like your video and audio are different lengths. Just changing the audio offset won't work. This can be caused by corrupted frames or bad cuts. Since it is MPEG, it's not likely VBR audio, but that can also cause it.

    bhxtyrant, in the future please use a more descriptive subject title in your posts to allow others to search for similar topics. I will change yours this time. From our rules:

    Thanks redwudz and sorry about that i really wasnt thinking about the title when i made the topic.Been trying to solve this for 3 days so im going a littlew nuts but i'll be sure to remember that for the future.

    EDIT @redwudz-
    Thats the crazy part about it.Both the audio and video streams are exactly the same length.

    About the only thing I can suggest is to post a Gspot 2.70 screen shot of the original video. Something there may be your problem. Blank out the title if you like. Usually the audio is the culprit. This guide by jimmalenko should help for posting screen shots: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=271697

    Generally, authoring shouldn't cause any sync problems. I suspect the problem occurs earlier.

    Thanks again redwudz,I'll try out your suggestion maybe it will help. And yeah i know what you mean the only thing thats weird is the original plays fine and it only occurs once DVDlab demuxes the MPG.I've made many others using the same exact sizes, format, and process and havent had it before so i guess it must be the video in some way.I'll update once i try it out.

    a wild guess, their are some time frame markers keeping the audio in sync, is it mp3 audio ? and when demuxed those markers are lost

    dvd lab puts the 2 streams back together but the audio falls behind

    I might be wrong but, this appears to be the type of thing that happens when segemented mpegs are joined by direct joining and NOT re-encoded , it works find until you try to demux it and remux

    My question is where did the mpg file come from. Was it something extracted from a vcd or one of those crappy kvcd. I have ran into synch problems with these and i just avoid these anymore.

    @The wizard that sounds quite possible but as far as if it is mp3 audio im not sure.but yes thats exactly what happens it works perfectly up until demuxing then the sync issues begin.

    @buttzilla
    The file was downloaded online and was originally in .divx format which i then converted to MPG.

    Maybe the video was originally encoded using drop-frame timing, but was re-encoded without. That would cause this sync slip.

    Your authoring program may give you the option to ignore audio timing which could fix this.
