  1. I'm running Windows Vista on a VAIO laptop. I just upgraded to DivX 7 Pro, intending to use it with the lastest version of VirtualDub. When I opened up VirtualDub to try to convert a video, it just showed the old DivX 6.8 codecs I had installed before instead of DivX 7.

I thought this would be an easy one to fix but some time on the forums and on Google has gotten me nowhere. I'll probably smack my forehead when I see the answer... anyway, can anyone help me out?

    Thanks in advance.

Did you uninstall the old Divx codec?

I don't know if that's a good idea, at this point - didn't DivX 7 switch to h264 (VFR/AVC?) video in an MKV container? If they don't have support for encoding DivX 4/5/6/Ultra features in an AVI, any longer, it probably wouldn't be compatible with VirtualDub, then.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the old Divx 6.8.x is the "Divx" part of Divx 7, while the H264/MKV novelty part is what gave it the version upgrade.

    Yep. It's still Divx 6.8.
