    Hi all.

I have long duration (~1 hour) WMV videos. During playback, I cannot forward through the video to a specific scene by dragging the timeline cursor. It springs back to its original location after I drag it forward. This happens in all players (Media Player, WinDVD, VLC, etc.).

The problem looks with the videos rather than the software. Can it be rectified in some way (by re-encoding or format conversion etc.)?

    Thanks and regards.

find someone with a mac that has the flip4mac plugin installed and quicktime pro. open your wmv's in quicktime. then save them as .mov's or .avi's. these should be more stable

You can try using asfbin to repair/(re)index the WMV files.

You may also be able to re-index the files using WME.

That happened to me a few times. I opened it in Video Edit Magic, added it to the timeline, then saved it as an avi then it worked fine.

Conveting it to any other format will solve the problem, but you should be able to correct the wmv as noted above.
