I have a problem with 4:3 video playback. When I switch my computer resolution to 1920X1080, and try to play 4:3 videos, 2 black vertical bars are present on the left and right side of the video (like the black bars on 16:9 videos except instead of top and bottom they are on the left and right). However, when I switch my computer to 1600X1200 resolution the 4:3 videos play properly with no black bars.
I have tried playing around with FFDshow but have had no success.
If anyone knows how to fix this without having to constantly switch back to 1600X1200 resolution I would gladly appreciate the help.
In case it helps my OS is vista home premium 32bit, graphics card is nvidia 9800gt, i am using the current version of the k-lite codec pack, and i am using my Samsung LN40A550 tv as my monitor
Thanks!

If you play 4:3 material in a 16:9 resolution(1920x1080) you will get black bars left and right or else would the picture be stretched. If you don't like this you could zoom the picture(crop top and bottom), try vlc media player, mpc, zoom player, kmplayer.
But do you have a 16:9 monitor? what is the standard resolution for it? -
Thanks for the reply..the resolution of my tv is 1920X1080..I will try the players you listed
