    Can you help, i had a virus in my external HD,i've manage to get rid of the trojan but for some reason my HD keeps crashing or shutting down.
    When this happens it effects the my pc because if i'm on the net and my external HD will freeze everything so i've got to turn off my HD for me to continue with what i'm doing,does anyone know what the problem is and how i can sort the problem out.Also i'm getting popups,i've tried to shhot the manager but still no joy.

    Ad-aware se , install , update , scan , crush all item's listed .

    Hijackthis , scan system , uncheck those item's not required during startup ... quicktime , itune's , itune's helper , messenger , let it fix , and reboot .

    Rescan , if item's appear , and you dont know if they should be listed , do a search with google should return result's ... post log .

    Start , settings , control panel , power option's ... set all to never , apply , ok .

    Windows explorer , tools , folder options , view tab .
    Check "show hidden folder's and file's" , and the two options below this , answer yes to popup box , apply , ok .

    Go to document's and setting's , local settings .
    Empty both the temp folder , and the temporary internet folder .
    Reboot pc .

    ---------------------

    Avgfree , install , update , scan entire system .
    Beware , some trojan's get into system restore and can only be entirely removed by turning this off , reboot , reset restore point .
    Dont forget to empty out the virus vault ... trojans can still cause denial of net service's from here .

    If dsl via usb , change dsl to ethernet should help issue experienced with external usb enclosure .
