I used the apps in the subject, and the resultant DVD has no audio. I selected the audio to KEEP from the interface screen (English). The original VTS's have audio, but the encoded DVD does not. Here is the log:

If it is incorrectly mapping the audio streams for some reaosn, there is a remapping option in (surprise!
) the options tab of DVD-RB. [edit] Settings -> options since you're not using either the default or Teck skins. [/edit]
ps Any particular reason why you're using 1.10.7 still? JDobbs is up to 1.10.9 now... There's nothing that I recall in the 2 latest releases that reference audio bug fixes in particular, but maybe if you got up to date it would solve the mapping issue. On the flip side, if this is a reproducible error for you, perhaps you've found a problem that should be reported to JDobbs in the doom9/RB forum(s). -
You're in Canada, yet you have an R2 PAL DVD of a US TV series? If so, then I'd guess that one of the European languages is the default stream, and as mentioned before, you'll have to remap it. Which language is the default when you play the retail DVD? Let's say it's German, the second stream. I'd open the DVD in PGCEdit, double-click the episodes in turn, open the first audio stream, and move the slider to "1" if German is the default, "2" if Spanish, etc. OK your way out of there, and do it for the other episodes. Also do it for the "Play All" stream if there is one. The "Play All", if it exists, will have a length equal to the sum total of the lengths of the episodes. Then save your work and test it out in PowerDVD. If something messes up, replace the IFOs which PGCEdit saves automatically, and start over.

WOW...I think that is a little over my head. i wonder why the original works fine but the recoded one does not...
I have a DVD player that plays both PAL and NTSC so it does not matter. -

If you'd try out the proposed remedy and answer the question, instead of making silly comments (to which I already gave one possible explanation), we might be able to get to the bottom of this. You're the one with the problem, not I. I could easily be wrong, but we'll never know unless you do some work. If you find the "fix" too difficult to follow, here it is with pictures:
http://forum.digital-digest.com/showpost.php?p=296707&postcount=1
And like I said, there's an easy "undo" if you mess up.

It may be unusual that an audio stream other then the first is the default, but I see it with some frequency. I picked the German stream as the possible default (not confirmed by caper) because of their habit of doing just that. I see anime sometimes where the Japanese track is the first one, but the English track (the 2nd one) is the default. And if the second stream is the default, but only the first stream still has audio, then no sound, and you have to remap. I've done it a bunch of times. He's using DVD-RB, so he can do it within that app using the "Audio Track Remapping" feature of the Pro version, although it's easier to do it in PGCEdit after having already created the DVD. Another thing caper hasn't mentioned is whether or not he can choose English with the remote or in the setup menu or in PowerDVD. Since DVD-RB doesn't actually wipe out the missing audio streams (the ones he removed are still there, but just empty), he should be able to select English in PowerDVD (if playing the DVD, and not the Vobs), or by using the remote on the standalone, even if he gets no audio at default settings. -
OK, I opened the VTS set in PGCEdit. then clicked one of the episodes, and then clicked EDIT PGC and then clicked on the first Audio (Audio VOB's Streams...0) and it came up Audio 0:en, unspecified (AC3). Leads me to believe its already set as default? Thanks for advice so far, anything else that can be done? Also, the default language is English when I play original in PowerDVD.
-
Hehe, you didn't yell at me for being rude. Sorry. Thanks for trying PGCEdit. Not so hard, eh?
it came up Audio 0:en, unspecified (AC3). Leads me to believe its already set as default?
That's the thing; if it isn't set as the default, then that's where you'll have problems. You'll have to move the slider to whatever is the default audio. That's why I asked what language plays when you play the retail DVD. All you've proven is that the English Audio is the first audio stream, which you knew already. As I mentioned last time, the first audio stream is usually, but not always, the default stream. I can't be sure at this stage, but I'm betting a different audio is the default, probably the German track.
So, put the retail DVD in the drive and play an episode. Or in your standalone. Take note of which language is default (if something besides English), and move the slider to that language. If you no longer have the DVD, then move that slider first to 1, Save and Test, to 2, Save and Test, etc., until you hit the right one.
You can't break anything. Immediately upon opening the DVD, PGCEdit saves the IFOs. If something messes up, just move those IFOs back into the DVD. -
So this is what you want me to do: Click on the English audio (button "0") and put slider to "1" which is where the dutch audio is/was.
Background:
I press Audio button 0, and it says "Audio 0:en, unspecified (AC3)"
I press Audio button 1, and it says "Audio 0:de, unspecified (AC3)"
Here is a screen of what I did. (see screen shot)
-
So I clicked on an episode ( on left pane ) and opened it for editing as seen above. I clicked on the Audio 0 button (english) and put slider from 0 to 1, then I hit OK. I did this for all 4 episodes. (Since its not just one main movie). I then hit OK each time to bring me back to main window and then File > Save DVD. I checked in powerdvd, still nothing...I think you mentioned incrementing slider and trying the rest...will do that now.
-
Also, the default language is English when I play original in PowerDVD.
Yes, you said it, and I completely missed it. And I'm at a loss now. I was kind of hoping that one of the others was default, which would explain your problems, and the fix would work. I find it hard to believe that DVD-RB has messed up somehow, as it's a very fine piece of software. It's designed to keep everything the way it was originally.
Do you get any audio at all when just playing the vobs, like double-clicking on them, or playing one in Media Player Classic (not the DVD, but a Vob)? Have you tested the retail DVD in a standalone DVD player hooked up to a TV set? Have you burned the backup to disc (a DVD-RW perhaps) for testing? Is this the only time this has happened to you, that is, have other DVD-RB projects worked in the past? I'm wondering now if you even have working AC3 on your computer. Do you have the AC3 filter installed? Yes, it should work anyway, if you have PowerDVD, but something very unusual is happening here. I guess then, that you should replace the IFOs that PGCEdit saved for you, if you haven't already. If you still have the original decrypted Vobs on the hard drive, maybe do the project again.
About all I can suggest at this point is posting about it in the DVD-RB Forum at Doom9. One thing they're going to want to know (as was asked here earlier) is why you don't have the most up-to-date DVD-RB Pro (Version 1.11.0). If you have a cracked version, then I wouldn't post there.
. -
My guess is that CCE cracked by "paradox" is the problem. Its like they disassembled the install file and made their own, already cracked, noted by the crazy "splash" screen when you install CCE. I will try recoding it with another version of CCE tonight. I will post my results.
No I did not burn to a dvd-rw for testing as all dvds have played fine in powerdvd before burning. Thanks a million for all your help so far. Setting up DVD-RB right now. Cheers.

I wouldn't think it's the version of CCE, as it has nothing to do with the audio, which is added in when authoring. Something else is at work, although at this point I don't know what it is. I know there was a cracked version of DVD-RB Pro that left a message on the screen at intervals. I don't know if there's one that prevents the audio from playing, although I doubt it.
I don't think we're supposed to discuss warez on this site. -
caper, discussing the use of a 'cracked' copyrighted program is considered Warez on this site and is in violation of our rules. Please read our rules before posting.
